On the 5thOctober 2011, Steve Jobs passed away surrounded by his close family. People from around the globe commented on the loss of Jobs and many stated that the world lost a technological genius that day. Steve Jobs has only recently stepped down as CEO of Apple which many believed was due to his on-going battle with pancreatic cancer. There have been various tributes made to Steve Jobs which look back on his time with Apple and the amazing inventions and ideas he helped to bring about and change the way in which we perceive and understand technology today. Steve Jobs co-founded Apple in 1976 with his colleagues Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. For Steve, Apple was all about trying something different and more original. Instead of focusing on what would sell and make millions, Jobs focused on what people needed and found them solutions to the problems which faced making technology an intricate part of the average person’s day to day life. On Wednesday 24th August, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs’ resignation became the hot topic and trending subject on various news sites and Twitter Feeds. The news came via an official press release from Apple stating that, “Steve Jobs has resigned as Chief Executive Officer, and the Board has named Tim Cook, previously Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, as the company’s new CEO. Jobs has been elected Chairman of the Board and Cook will join the Board, effective immediately.” It did not take long for the public to start making comment on what many have claimed to be the biggest change to Apple since the company was first set up in 1977. The majority of the public were shocked to hear the news of Jobs’ decision to leave the company and many took to Twitter to wish Jobs all the best as many took his ill-health to be one of the reasons for his departure.
