iPhone 4S – Quick Look
The iPhone 4S which has taken the smartphone market by storm saw a huge demand with the handset pre-ordered in its millions for many excited new users. Now that some time has passed since the launch we take a look at the latest Apple product that has revolutionised the way in which we use our phone. With the same look and feel of the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S boasts a brand new dual core A5 processor and features a much improved 8MP camera with a great increase in processing power and graphics also. Phone Wars–Who will come out on top?
The last few weeks have seen a lot of change in the phone market. With the release of Apple’s latest device – iPhone 4S, Windows Phone and Mango and of course the latest Samsung devices due to receive patent battles with Apple. Along with various new devices and updates there has been a shift in public opinion of a particular brand of phone – the infamous Blackberry. Recently RIM (Blackberry manufacturers) suffered a great loss when the Blackberry network crashed with users unable to use Facebook, BBM (Blackberry Messenger) or even access the internet. Users took to every social network available to complain of the outage with many deciding to abandon the device in pursuit of a more reliable handset. The network outage seem to mainly effect Pay as You Go Blackberry users with some reporting that their services did not return for more than 3 or so days of outage. RIM were quick to comment and apologise for the issue and much like the Sony PSN crash, RIM have decided to release premium Apps to their users in attempt to make up for the mess and annoyance they caused to many a Blackberry user. A Tribute to the Man behind the Apple
On the 5thOctober 2011, Steve Jobs passed away surrounded by his close family. People from around the globe commented on the loss of Jobs and many stated that the world lost a technological genius that day. Steve Jobs has only recently stepped down as CEO of Apple which many believed was due to his on-going battle with pancreatic cancer. There have been various tributes made to Steve Jobs which look back on his time with Apple and the amazing inventions and ideas he helped to bring about and change the way in which we perceive and understand technology today. Steve Jobs co-founded Apple in 1976 with his colleagues Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. For Steve, Apple was all about trying something different and more original. Instead of focusing on what would sell and make millions, Jobs focused on what people needed and found them solutions to the problems which faced making technology an intricate part of the average person’s day to day life. Steve Jobs Steps Down as CEO
On Wednesday 24th August, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs’ resignation became the hot topic and trending subject on various news sites and Twitter Feeds. The news came via an official press release from Apple stating that, “Steve Jobs has resigned as Chief Executive Officer, and the Board has named Tim Cook, previously Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, as the company’s new CEO. Jobs has been elected Chairman of the Board and Cook will join the Board, effective immediately.” It did not take long for the public to start making comment on what many have claimed to be the biggest change to Apple since the company was first set up in 1977. The majority of the public were shocked to hear the news of Jobs’ decision to leave the company and many took to Twitter to wish Jobs all the best as many took his ill-health to be one of the reasons for his departure.
Apple’s iCloud @ WWDC 2011 (Donegal Post Article 15/06/11)
The Apple Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) was held last Monday 6th June. The conference saw a great turnout for developer’s eager to see what Apple has to offer for the coming year. Many wondered if the iPhone 5 would make an appearance but the main feature of the WWDC was Apple’s new iCloud service. Apple’s iCloud is the company’s way of trying to get the upper hand in the tech market and beat out competition from Android rivals such as Samsung and LG. According to recent reports Apple was not doing so well in the smartphone market dropping down to second place and coming fourth in mobile phone sales in the US. With Android smartphones providing a stiff competition for the company the iCloud service comes as Apple’s answer to the challenges which face them in the mobile market. Read the rest of this entry

Apple Launches the iPad 2 (Donegal Post Article 9th March 2011)
Apple have recently released the latest in their tablet devices to continue the Tablet War of 2011. The iPad 2, the latest gadget unveiled by Steve Jobs himself is set up to take the tablet market by storm and further embrace the hold Apple have over the tablet market. This latest edition of Apple’s tablet device is thinner, lighter, faster and smarter than its predecessor.
