The Social Networking War Begins..

On Thursday 22ndSeptember, Facebook held their F8 Developers conference in San Francisco. The conference was led by a keynote from none other than Mark Zuckerberg himself in which he previewed the latest revamp to his social network. With competition from Google+ and the common issue of social networks behaving much like fads, Zuckerberg wants to keep Facebook on top of the networking game and has introduced many new features and a complete new look for the website to keep users interested. Some of the many changes Facebook will introduce in the coming weeks are: New-look News Feed complete with Cover Photo, Timeline feed and even further integration with various Apps like Spotify and Netflix. YAHOO! fires You-know-Who!

On Tuesday 6th Carol Bartz was let go as CEO of Yahoo. Bartz was a well-known force to be reckoned with and harsh CEO with her constant use of profanities and shrewd frankness when dealing with people. The fiery CEO was informed of the Board’s decision to let her go over the phone which many have described as a very under-handed and cowardly way of dismissing someone. Bartz informed the staff of Yahoo via an email describing how she had been let go – “I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s Chairman of the Board. It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.” Read the rest of this entry
